Recology provides organics, recycling, and solid waste collection and processing services to over 130 communities in California, Oregon, and Washington. Recology owns and operates composting facilities, transfer stations, materials recovery facilities, and landfills to meet the needs of surrounding municipalities. These services include: residential and commercial recycling, materials recovery, construction and demolition debris recycling, large-scale composting of food and other organic waste, compost sales, waste collection, transfer and landfill operations, and green planning services. Recology is the largest employee-owned company in the industry, where success largely stems from the dedication of its employees, the services provided to customers, and the company's genuine concern for a sustainable environment.     Jim Mendoza, Director of Equipment Procurement & Maintenance, joined energy suppliers, industry analysts, and fleet managers on the #WasteExpo fuels panel, “Now & Next” to discuss fleet fuels and what trends we might see looking forward. Jim discussed our efforts around using renewable or alternative fuels at Recology and touched on the opportunities zero emission vehicles will bring to our industry.     Big Red made a big splash at #WasteExpo this week! Over a century ago, this beloved truck marked the shift from waste collection in horse-drawn wagons to our first fleet of trucks. We were thrilled to showcase Big Red alongside the unveiling of the first hydrogen fuel cell-powered refuse truck—a testament to our rich heritage and exciting future.

    We’re honored to highlight Recology Ostrom Organics (ROO) as the National Waste & Recycling Association's 2023 Organics Management Facility of the year at #WasteExpo this week! Kirk Steed, General Manager, spoke on ROO’s impressive accomplishments at the “Breaking the Barriers of Recycling Through Innovation, Partnerships & Education” roundtable along with other NWRA Recycling Award winners. Kirk highlighted how ROO has successfully processed over 136,000 tons of organic material and produced over 80,000 tons of organic compost since opening in 2020.     Yesterday at #WasteExpo, Recology CEO Salvatore Coniglio participated on the National Waste & Recycling Association's Women’s Council Spotlight panel, "Empowering Engagement: Women's Affinity Groups as Catalysts for Organizational Success." Sal and his fellow panel members had the opportunity to discuss the significant role women's Employee Network Groups (ENGs) play in the workplace by fostering support, growth, and opportunities for women, particularly in industries like waste and recycling where women’s representation is crucial yet often under-recognized. Thank you for representing us, Sal, and thank you to our Women at Recology ENG for all the work that you do!

    We’re thrilled to be joining New Way® Trucks and Hyzon in showcasing North America’s FIRST hydrogen fuel cell-powered refuse truck at WasteExpo today! Following its debut at WasteExpo, the truck will come to Recology to test on routes in California. “This development is a major milestone, and we're thrilled to be the first to demo this technology to help move our business and the industry forward,” said Recology CEO Salvatore Coniglio.
